About me
Hi! I am Ariadne
Welcome to my adventure travel
Dear Reader, I first travelled to Japan more than a year ago, for a few days, during which time I visited Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, and knew before I had left, that I wanted to return.
Fast forward to now, and I have booked myself something close to a lunar month, and gone over my itinerary with a fine comb, several times over, tidying up details and trying to fit in a day as much as I possibly can. It may seem like a lot of time, and a lot to fit in just one trip, so I’ll keep reminding myself to live in the moment.
There’ll be a lot of walking. That’s the idea. Got my comfy shoes, and the lightest backpack I could find to fit in all the necessities. Got my lists, my schedule in digital format and pencil on paper, maps and brochures.
I invite you to join me in my meanderings in Japan. I’ll share images of the places I’ll visit, my thoughts and findings. If you’re interested in visiting, I hope you can find my tips and suggestions of use.
Your attention, pray, dear Reader, and your patience, too.
NB The narrative is as long as a piece of rope, and it may contain loose ends.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is it very expensive to travel to Japan?
Yes, and no. It really depends on what kind of trip you have in mind: a short holiday, a longer stay? Will you book activities and experiences, and shop? Are you content with just the sights? Are you travelling light? Your airline ticket, your accommodation, and transport are where most of the budgeting is. All else is negotiable.
3. Is it safe for a solo traveller?
It is considered one of the safest countries to go explore on your own. You’re bound to find a lost item, and trains are on time, and you will find help, and there’s even notification via an app when natural disasters are about to occur. If we mean ‘safe’ from natural predators, it is always wise to take all precautions, avoid shadows, embrace the light, and be well informed.
2. How did you pick which cities to visit ?
The main three cities, are well known for attracting many tourists, and are somewhat familiar to me. I did plan day-trips in the surrounding areas with Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo as my hub, mainly due to the multitude and frequency of available trains.
4. What are your recommendations for a great holiday in Japan?
No matter how long the trip is for, make time to enjoy every moment. Even if your list has 5 things and you only manage 2, it is worth it. You can always return, but you won’t remember much if you don’t slow down. You have to match the pace of the environment.
